A collection of questions that we get asked frequently.

  • The dictionary tells us ‘ made for a particular customer or user’

However, in kitchens a lot of companies use the term bespoke when actually they’re just selling standard cabinets and expecting the fitter to sort things on site.

We feel the true meaning of bespoke is that the size and shape of the cabinets are built to suit each and every individual customer.

  • Every project is different. The actual installation of the kitchen furniture is generally within a week but if the old kitchen needs removing and there’s preparation work to be done this will add time. Many kitchens are now finished with quartz or granite worksurfaces, the lead-time on fitting these can often add an extra week.

  • It’s usually best, there’s an awful lot of debris when you remove an old kitchen.

Bear in mind - fridges and freezers aren’t allowed in the skip, you can generally arrange collection with your local council.

  • It’s all a matter of personal choice & opinion, they are relatively expensive initially but then they’re cheaper to run. However, it’s not all about the cost - it’s instant boiling water when you want it with no waiting - it’s an extra 5 minutes in bed in the morning - it’s clearer kitchen worktops.

  • Generally the water will be off for a short while whilst the old kitchen is being removed but then it can be isolated and turned back on. It might be off again briefly near the end whilst the taps are connected.

  • Kitchen islands are not a fixed size so even compact rooms can quite often house an island, you should try and ensure at least 90cm (about 3feet) around so it feels comfortable.

  • It is estimated that a new kitchen adds around 5-15% value to a property

Therefore you should try to spend less than 10% of your house value.

Ultimately it will all depend on the size of the kitchen & the choices you make.

  • You might not want to share this with a designer straight away, but if you don’t, you risk being presented with a beautiful design you simply can’t afford. Disclosing your figures early on means your designer can achieve the look you want by using materials and options within your budget.
